This is the official web site of the Puget Sound (Seattle) area Boeing Employees' Coin Club. News items and editorial comment in this web site do not necessarily reflect the views and opinions of The Boeing Company. The BECC meets the 4th Wednesday of each month (see club announcements or upcoming club events below). The Boeing Employees' Coin Club (BECC) is one of the most active coin clubs in the Pacific Northwest region. Per the BECC Constitution and Bylaws, "We, the Boeing Employees' Coin Club, are organized in a spirit of friendliness and good fellowship to share the pleasures of coin collecting." The BECC also contributes to the objectives and purposes of the Pacific Northwest Numismatic Association — "to promote, extend, and protect the interests of numismatists and numismatic activities throughout the Pacific Northwest and to foster and encourage the study of numismatics in all its forms."

The BECC publishes a monthly newsletter (the BECC News), holds an annual coin show in January, mints an annual commemorative medal featuring a Boeing product, and promotes numismatics through special programs and activities such as the numismatic display at the Puyallup Fair each September.

The B.E.C.C. is an IRS 501(c)(7) non-profit organization.

Jim Payne Award! John Enges (left) receives the Jim Payne Memorial Service Award from Terry Kamm (right). The award is given each year to a deserving BECC member who best exemplifies the qualities of our past BECC member Jim Payne, a cornerstone of the club. The committee that selects the winner consists of the last three winners of the award. John has served as the club's refreshment chairman and caters the banquet each year, in addition to the other volunteer service he provides to the BECC. John was presented with a 2012 KC-97 three piece silver, pewter and bronze medal set in a special holder with a mirror base. Congratulations to John for this great achievement! Theft reported! The BECC regrets to report that a number of items were recently stolen from a club member. The items include Boy Scout silver anniversary coins, silver ingots and silver serving pieces. If you have information or are offered this material for sale, please contact Greg Smith at 253-737-6268.

2012 medal design! - The BECC membership selected the KC-97 Stratotanker military transport, first flown in 1944, as the Boeing product to be represented on the 2012-dated club medal. Members selected the KC-97 from among three top vote-getters at the general membership meeting held on March 23, 2011. Dave Buehler and Alan Van Horn presented nine Boeing products. Members voted via secret ballot during our evening meal break. BECC Secretary Terry Kamm counted the vote totals and provided the results to Alan to announce to the membership. BECC members previously were asked to submit ideas for the next BECC medal design by March 4. Other ideas included the Model 40A mail plane, cruise missile, JDAM and 747-8 Intercontinental. Update: Members selected the desired view of the airplane from among 11 photos presented at the April 27, 2011 meeting, and the approved KC-97 design is shown at left. The Medals Committee decided the BECC will produce 200 silver, 150 pewter, 150 copper and 150 bronze medals with the 2012 design. A flyer with current prices was developed and attached to the club's monthly newsletter beginning in September. Update (August): We have finalized the design for our 2012 medal. GSM has polished the die and is now proceeding with the minting process. Medals order forms are now available from the club. • Puyallup Fair – September 9-25, 2011 – The PNNA sponsors the annual coin exhibit in the Hobby Hall, with assistance from local coin clubs including the BECC. No volunteer is knowledgeable about all aspects of numismatics – if your question wasn't answered or if you are were unable to attend the Fair, please e-mail your question to info@pnna.org, and it will be directed to a local expert for a response. If you're eligible for the Boeing recreation program, you can also get many numismatic questions answered by attending a BECC club meeting.
